Official competition rules
What makes a grip
count.
Attempts happen at official events only. One squeeze, one clip, one number — every score on the board earned the same way.
The short version
- · Only at official events. You can never do an attempt on your own.
- · The hostess hands you the gripper.
- · The video recording starts.
- · You squeeze it as hard as you can.
- · Your result is displayed on the gripper.
- · The video recording catches the result.
- · The AI brings it into the system and verifies you followed the rules.
- · You go on the rankings.

The moment that counts: wrist up, screen to the lens, hostess thumbs up — all in one unbroken clip.
The ten rules
- 1
Approved device only
Every score is set on a league-issued Camry EH101 digital hand dynamometer, calibrated and handed to you by the hostess. Personal grippers, spring devices and anything not handed to you on the floor are void.
- 2
Peak mode, one hand
The unit is reset to zero and set to peak-hold in front of the camera. Your strongest hand, whichever it is. The other hand stays away from the device and your body.
- 3
Stance and grip
Stand upright, feet planted, elbow at roughly 90 degrees, upper arm relaxed at your side. The handle sits across the middle of your fingers with the display facing outward toward the camera.
- 4
The 60-second window
From the countdown ending you have 60 seconds to name yourself and deliver one maximal squeeze of 3 to 5 seconds. One squeeze per token — not a best-of-three.
- 5
No bracing, no swinging
No pressing the unit into your thigh, hip, chest, a table, a wall or the other hand. No jerking, dropping the arm, throwing the shoulder or crushing on the way down. The arm stays free and still.
- 6
The wrist lift
You release pressure but keep holding the unit. The hostess takes your wrist and raises your arm so the screen faces the lens. Nobody touches the buttons.
- 7
The reading shot
The camera closes in and holds on the display until the kilogram figure is sharp and steady for at least two seconds. That frame is the score. No reading on camera, no score.
- 8
The thumbs up
In the same unbroken clip the hostess looks into the lens and gives a thumbs up, confirming what she saw from a metre away. No thumbs up, no attempt.
- 9
One clip, no edits
Name, squeeze, wrist lift, reading and thumbs up must be one continuous recording. Cuts, speed changes, screen recordings and re-uploads are void.
- 10
You, in person, 18+
The competitor on camera must be the signed-up account holder, over 18, and visible in frame with their face. No proxies, no stand-ins.
The flow, start to finish
- 1Tap 'Do an attempt'. The rules screen comes up.
- 2Hand your phone to someone. Five-second countdown.
- 3They film you from one to two metres, portrait, whole body in frame.
- 4Face the camera and say your first name.
- 5The hostess hands you the zeroed gripper.
- 6One maximal squeeze, 3 to 5 seconds, inside 60 seconds.
- 7Release pressure but keep holding the unit.
- 8The hostess lifts your wrist, screen turned to the lens.
- 9The camera closes in and holds on the reading for two seconds.
- 10The hostess gives the thumbs up on camera.
- 11Stop recording — one unbroken clip, no edits.
- 12The AI reads the number, runs the checks, and your rank updates.
What gets you thrown out
- The reading is never shown clearly on camera
- The clip is cut, sped up, edited or filmed off another screen
- Two hands on the unit, or the free hand braces the arm
- The device is pressed against the body, a table or a wall
- The unit was not zeroed on camera before the squeeze
- No hostess in frame, or no thumbs up
- Somebody else's hand or face is on the attempt
- A device that is not league-issued
- The figure jumps beyond what the video shows — the AI flags impossible spikes
- A repeat squeeze on the same token to chase a better number
How we audit the board
AI reads the number, not a human typist
The model reads the kilogram figure straight off the frozen display frame and compares it with the audio, the arm movement and the length of the squeeze.
Every device is serialised
Only league-issued units are used. Each one is periodically checked against a known reference load and pulled from circulation if it drifts.
Hostesses are tested and accountable
Hostesses pass a rules test before they can sign anything off, and every thumbs up is tied to their account. A bad sign-off gets their attempts re-reviewed.
Consistency checks against your history
A sudden jump far above your own record triggers a deeper frame-by-frame review before it lands on the board.
Top-50 attempts get a full manual pass
Anything entering the top 50 nationally is reviewed frame by frame by a league official before the tick shows. That is where the money is, so that is where the scrutiny is.
Public video, public scrutiny
Verified clips get posted publicly. Anyone can call out an attempt, and a credible objection puts it back under review.
Disputes and arbitration
If you think a score is wrong — yours or somebody else's — there is a set process, and it is the only one.
1. Raise it within 7 days
Objections must be lodged within seven days of the attempt appearing on the board. Say which attempt, and which rule you believe was broken.
2. The clip is re-reviewed
A league official re-watches the full unbroken clip frame by frame against these rules. The hostess who signed it off is asked for her account of the squeeze.
3. The video is the evidence
Only what is visible and audible in the single continuous clip counts. No later footage, no re-enactments, no witness statements without video.
4. Outcome and correction
An attempt is upheld, voided, or the number is corrected to what the display actually shows. Voided attempts come off the board and the token is not refunded.
5. Final decision
The head official's ruling after re-review is final. Repeat frivolous objections or any attempt to game the process can suspend an account.
6. Device disputes
If a device is claimed to be faulty it is pulled, tested against a reference load, and every attempt on that unit since its last check is re-reviewed.
Rankings and the league year
The national ranking is your single best verified squeeze, all-time. One great day can put you at number one.
The league runs over a 12-month period. To be in the league you need at least one verified attempt in every month of that period.
The league title is decided on the weighted average of your monthly attempts across the 12 months, so one great day or one bad day does not decide it. It rewards the strongest grip held continuously.
League rankings are not published yet — they go live once there are enough entries. The national rankings are live now.
Walk-ins are welcome. Do one squeeze at one event and you are on the national rankings — no membership needed.
